I can see this is an old post, but I'm wondering what the current recommended procedure for merging donor files is. I don't see anything about merging in the user's manual online. We have two duplicate files with lots of entries, and we're wondering if there's a way to merge without deleting everything and re-entering the data. Thanks for your advice. |

deleting an obsolete category

We have a category that we no longer need. I've tried to delete it by but going to "Category" in a random donor record, clicking "edit list" and clicking the X by the one I don't want, but I'm getting an error message: delete statement conflicted with the reference constraint
This is a category I used to use for our newsletter list, so it affects thousands of names (meaning I can't delete it manually). It wouldn't be a big deal to leave it, but I'd like to clean up our records since this ... |

a report of non-donors

It would be great to have a way to pull a list of non-donor supporters from the database. We have volunteers, prospective donors, and others who just want to be on our mailing list who happen to not give financially (or not yet!). Since the reports pull DONORS, there doesn't seem to be a way of getting these names out of the database once I put them in!
Thanks so much for a great system. |

Thank you for your quick response!
Your idea was helpful. I was under the impression that the donor reports were pulling from donation records, and therefore non-donors would not be pulled. (I thought I checked this before posting, but your idea about the Newsletter category did pull a non-donor.)
I still feel new at this sometimes... I appreciate your time in helping me with this! |

adding "Hold Mail" option to reports

I might suggest adding "Hold Mail" as a drop-down option for more (or perhaps all) of the reports. It is, of course, on some but I've used other reports for generating mailing lists and have gotten returned mail, only to find that the donor has already been marked "hold mail" for having a bad or incorrect address. I just didn't have a way of excluding those hold-mail donors.
Ekyros is great and I appreciate your interest in finding ways to make it even better! Thanks! |

Top Donors for an Event

Hi,
I'm trying to generate a report of donors who gave $500 or more at last year's banquet. I thought this would be pretty straightforward but I'm having some trouble.
I used the Pledge Report to get a spreadsheet of everyone who pledged $500+, which is a start, but I'm concerned someone may have given without having it entered as a pledge. The donor reports don't seem to include an event choice, and the donation reports list gifts separately, not cumulatively, so if a donor sent ... |

No problem at all... I'm slow to respond back to you because I'm just here part-time. I'm not sure about data import. But, I was able to look at a report of last year's banquet gifts and manually pull out the large gifts I needed. Going forward (and as our events are entered into ekyros), is there a way to pull out top donors by event, or would you recommend doing it manually again?
Thanks for your input! |

Clearing Out Batch Summary for Receipts

I am relatively new to ekyros and think I've gotten the hang of generating receipts! However, I see my Letter Storage filling up and wonder if I'm supposed to clear it out somehow. I am afraid to delete batches since I don't want to remove any activity from donor history. But I'm not sure what happens when I run out of storage space! Your thoughts on what I should be doing would be helpful. Thanks! |

New Donors Report

I'm trying to compile a list of people who contributed to our recent walk who are new donors. I can find walk sponsors with the Event Sponsors Report, but this would include existing donors also. I can find new donors with the Donor Files Report using the Date Created field, but this would include donors who gave to other appeals. Do I send both to Excel and look for duplicates, or is there a better way?
Thank you so much! |
