Inventory List Posted: 20 Jun 2005 03:34 PM |
We are fortunate to have 2 storage units we store all our donated items in. One is climate controlled and contains all clothing we have already washed and hung on hangers ready to be placed in the 'Boutique'. The other storage unit contains all cribs; strollers; bagged diapers, etc. My question is: We need to have some way of keeping up with things coming and going in and out of the two units. Sometimes I have to go down and pick up a car seat for example and someone on another day may not realize the car seat has been removed. If there was a "central location" we could all just simply go over to the computer, pull up ekyros and everyone will know what is available in storage. Is there a way you could come up with something that everyone could use in their "boutique" or storage?

Hi dmiller,
I believe your question is similar to to Sallie's at:

We are currently looking into what it would take to meet your requirements. If we use the existing Closets/Boutiques inventory list, we can enhance it so that you could specify a storage location and quantity on hand for each item. However, as these items are handed out and recorded in the closets/boutiques form, we are still tryiing to determine the best way to update (decrease) the inventory on hand. There could also be cases where if you don't keep the quantity on hand up to date, you may have a negative balance in your inventory. I'm not sure if that matters though, since most centers do not want to spend extra cycles on keeping their inventory up to date.
My question: As you hand out items from your boutique, when you record the item as "received" in the Closets/Boutiques form, would you also like it to decrement the qty on hand in your inventory? Assuming your answer is 'yes', if the qty on hand is <= 0, we would still have to allow you to save the form, because most other centers don't want to maintain the inventory qty on hand. Would that still be acceptable? |
