Femur Lenght Posted: 09 Nov 2014 06:06 PM |
Hello,
We are currently using FL or Femur Lengths on our limited ultrasound patients as a measurement. I would like to see this added to the form. I like all the new changes on the US report but would like to see this also!
Thanks, Karen Jones RN |

Hi Karen,
Thank you for sharing what would be most helpful to you. Is femur length a measurement you use on every sonogram or is it used only in certain scenarios? We've had some feedback that NIFLA requirements indicate a substitution of 2 femur length measurements only when a BPD cannot be obtained, so I wanted to get your input regarding that. I didn't know if that's how you use it as well or if it's a measurement you use during every/most sonograms.
Kind Regards,
Amy |

I was taught both. I was told to do FL if BPD was sub optimal. My nurses were recently trained to do FL first then BPD second for various reasons. I have even seen some webinars on FL and it can be a great tool. For the time being we just put it in comments.
Blessings! Karen |
