Abstinence Commitment for Married Clients Posted: 18 Oct 2012 12:18 PM |
I currently have a married client who is pregnant as a result of an affair.
We've had this situation before and I'm always confused as to which answer to check in the commitment to abstinence question.
She did say she was done and that she was going to talk with her husband so that sounds to me like a commitment to "abstinence outside of marriage".
Typically we check n/a for married clients but this is a different kind of situation, and it is not the first time I've questioned it.
What is your recommendation? |

Delaine,
This is is difficult situation and I will be praying for your client and her family. With that said my suggestion would be to mark as made a commitment to abstinence because through talking with you all it sounds as though she made that decision. While the majority of married clients would be marked "Not Applicable" you can still mark did/did not make a commitment based upon your conversation. Does that make sense?
Blessings,

Yes, thank you. This is what I had decided to do but again, there's been a question each time it's come up. I guess that's why all cases are different! ;-)
