Compassion fatigue
Posted: 28 Jan 2011 12:43 PM
I would like prayer for my staff. Many have been on the front lines in this ministry as a volunteer and then staff person for 10+ years.

A few are indicating that they are beginning to experience compassion fatigue.

I am an almost brand new ED (serving for about 14 months now) and do not serve in the counseling role at all, so I am seeking wisdom and advice as to how best support these individuals.

Hi Angela,
I just said a prayer for you and your staff. I am praying that the Lord will renew the passion, energy, and commitment of your team. I am also praying that God will guide you and give you wisdom on the best way to provide encouragement and leadership to them.

These verses are always an encouragement to me when I am feeling weary:

Isaiah 40:28-31--
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Thank you so much for sharing your prayer request with us, Angela!
Blessings in Christ,
Sarah
