Change of names
Posted: 29 Sep 2010 11:56 AM
I am wondering how to best deal with a client who has changed their name. I understand that I can just change her name in her file, but what if she has two cases and we want them linked to each other so that we can see her full history. One client in particular has two files (one under married and one under maiden name) and multiple cases associated with in her two files. Suggestions? Insights? Are there plans in the process to make a more simple solution?
Thank you!

Hi Amanda,
Thank you for contacting us, I apologize for the delayed response. Currently you will want to combine all files into one main file, you will need to do this manually by adding the additional cases and activity from the other file(s). In the future we hope to provide a "merge" feature that will allow you to merge files easily. To reflect the name(s) you could, in the last name field, put her new name and her old name in parenthesis. For example: First Name: Ashleigh Last Name: Guilmette (Medina-maiden) or vice versa First Name: Ashleigh Last Name: Medina (Guilmette-married). You don't necessarily have to put the "label" or which type of name it is, just find what works best for you and your center. Does that make sense?

Blessings,
Ashleigh
