Sonogram Reporting Posted: 17 Oct 2007 08:00 PM |
Please advise if I am seeing this correctly:
Looks like the Focus Report (#18-21) records the total CONCLUSIVE & INCONCLUSIVE sonograms done for the month. But the CareNet report for the month/year reports only the conclusive sonograms? This makes a difference when I do my Board Report showing % of those who changed their minds. Wouldn't I want my final assessments to be on the conclusive sonograms only (just like only the positive pregancy tests are counted (#14-16)?
Also, if there is a change of mind made and recorded in a following month, does this change the CareNet report for that month? For example, a client's exit decision after the test in August is abortion-minded. In September, she changed her mind and will now carry. Will this automatically change the CareNet report for August?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFUL WORK!

Hi Lynda,
I did a little research on your question regarding conclusive & inconclusive sonograms. You are correct that the Option Ultrasound report does record both inconclusive and conclusive sonogram reports. This is because of direct feedback we received from Focus on the Family. In the past, we only recorded conclusive sonograms on the Option Ultrasound report, but after speaking with FOF staff about this, we changed the report to include both inconclusive and conclusive sonograms. This change was made in Sept. 2006.
However, the Care Net report only records conclusive sonograms. If you'll notice on the actual Care Net report, the instructions for the sonogram section says, "The following questions refer only to those clients who received an ultrasound at your center and were found to be pregnant." For this reason, only conclusive sonograms are counted.
When getting your own internal reports together for your board, you have the ability to break out your inconclusive/conclusive sono stats, or lump them together--whichever you and your board prefer to see. This is all done by running the Sonogram Statistic and selecting the measures that you would like.
Ok, on to your 2nd question....
Yes, the Care Net report will be updated. Just remember that when you enter new data or change existing data today, this will not be reflected in the statistics until tomorrow.
Hope this helps, Lynda! :)
Blessings to you today!

Because this is annual report time, our nurse-manager and I wanted to officially request that eKyros and CareNet consider including the inconclusive sonograms in CareNet's reporting like Focus does. Our rationale would be that they already had a positive pregnancy test which refers them on to ultrasound. The majority of our inconclusive sonograms are because it's too early in the pregnancy to see baby and heart motion, though we usually see yolk sac and gestational sac. This usually happens when the client is off on her dates. We also still ask the client what her decision is after the ultrasound. Also, even if the client is at risk for miscarriage or ectopic, she is still "pregnant" and still had a sonogram.
For our center the difference may be 50-60 clients a year that aren't reflected on CareNet's report.
Hope this will have some influence on CareNet's reporting.
Thanks for considering this.

Hi Lynda,
You always have such great feedback! Thanks for taking time to communicate this with us. While we do get to provide Care Net with feedback from time to time, we here at ekyros really don't have much control over what Care Net decides to put on their annual report, or their specific instructions for how to track each number. And, we do follow the specific instructions that Care Net provides for their annual report so that centers can provide them with the numbers that they are looking for. I would suggest that you provide this feedback to Care Net staff directly, so that they can hear your thoughts directly from you. I know they would be open to hearing from you. And, should Care Net ever decide to change the way they want sonogram data reported, we would definitely make this change to the Care Net report in the software.
Thanks Lynda!

One solution I have found - since we are apparently having the same problem. The client is off on her dates, so the us shows gestational and yoke saks and she is pregnant, but she doesn't warrant another us from us.
What we have done each year is download the report and "fix" it before we send it off. But.. with that said... I hate having to go in there and "fix" everything by hand... it is just more unnecessary work..
Thanks for your help! I'm not happy about it, but maybe I'll get over it! |
