Search for clients

If we use the option of searching for clients by organization, is there some way to have them sort alphabetically rather than only by number? Is that now our client's Identification number?
Because we are a large multi center organization, in order to identify clients to the center they originally came to, we have used the organization field to put in which center they originally came for services to. I forsee that some directors may choose to use that view normally rather than view all the clients from every center, however, if they do, it would be so helpful to be able to view them in an alphabetical list.
Is that possible?

Hi tmaikk,

You shouldn't have to use the Organization field for this purpose. It sounds like we need to add the originating location to the actual client record. (It should be used for informational purposes only). We can then add the location as a column in the search results. Would that be acceptable?

Yes, that seems like it would work well. How soon would something like that take effect? We have begun to use the organization because it is so much easier for us to be able to see which center they originated in. Would we then have to go through each one individually to change them to originating center?

My other question is when we see the list of clients, they are listed in order of when they were entered in the computer. We don't have the option of sorting them alphabetically. Is that a possible option at some time?

I'm am going to release a tiny (silent) update tonight. If all goes well, hopefully i can include it in tonight's release. Don't worry about updating existing files, i'll do it for you. i'll look at the location assigned to the first form that was entered under the activity list and assign it to the file. any new files you add will default to the current location you have set in the drop down list at the top right corner of the screen.

i'll update this post later this evening to let you know if i was able to get the update in. Sorry for the inconvenience. We should have added this earlier.

Sorting Clients:

What form are you talking about? Are you talking about the search results in the search form? If so, if you search by name, i can default the list to sort by lastname, firstname. would that be good enough?
