We are needing to be able to merge donor files. Example; Mary & John Doe are married, so 1 file. For the walk each person walks individually , so one file for Mary and another for John. They also give throughout the year. For end of year giving receipts, we need to be able to merge the files in order to give them a correct end of year total. The only way that I have found to merge is to go back into the event and replace the names and all information which going back and forth can take a very long time.
The problem with running 3 different receipts is that we set a dollar amount for sending out end of year receipts. So if that amount is $250.00 and each individual only gives $25.00 for the walk, they don't fall into that category. Is this something that can be addressed. please?

Hi Cisen,
we are in the process of over-hauling the entire event management area. in the future, you will be able to add multiple walkers from the same family and link them all back to one donor account. this will reduce the number of actual donor files you will have to create to support walks (and other events). that said, i understand you still have "split donors" that belong to the same household today since you are using the current walk module. we currently don't have a merge function, however, this is something we plan to implement in a future release for client, donor and staff (merge is also very helpful for duplicate file scenarios). i can't give you a specific release date, but i'm hoping it will be in first half of 2009. |

Thank you for your response. I am excited that this is coming in the future. Our walk this year is May 9 and it would be great to be able to use it for this yearw walk. Will you be sending out a notice so that we know that it is available? |

I apologize for the delayed response! We appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Whenever CenterPiece is updated and released you will find "Release Notes" under the "Help" tab within CenterPiece. From here you can click on the most recent (Currently February 2009) and it will explain all changes/updates completed. You always have the option to print.

I can see this is an old post, but I'm wondering what the current recommended procedure for merging donor files is. I don't see anything about merging in the user's manual online. We have two duplicate files with lots of entries, and we're wondering if there's a way to merge without deleting everything and re-entering the data. Thanks for your advice. |

It's great to hear from you! Currently the "merge" function is not available and you will need to manually rectify within CenterPiece. We are looking to release this capability by the end of the year. Have a great day!

donor merge will be in the next release of donor mgmt. you won't have to wait until the end of the year. the date for the next release has not been determined yet...FYI |
