Donor Segments Posted: 21 Mar 2008 03:17 PM |
We currently have donors who are couples and therefore the male and female bubble need to be checked on their basic information page. However, your system does not allow that. Can that be corrected? Also I would like to have more useful fields on that page, for example:
Area of Interest. Thank you.

Hi Jolias117,
Can you give us more detailed info on what you mean by "areas of interest?" What would you want to track through this list, and how would this information be used?
Regarding marking gender...currently, you can only mark either male or female (but not both). Our team will take a look at this to see if we can improve this for trackimg donor couples.
Thanks for your feedback!! We appreciate it so very much. :)

The 'areas of interest' would be post-abortion healing, abstinence, adoption, parenting education. We may want to add one or two more later. Basically every donor or volunteer has a personal story that connects them or draws them to our ministry. If we know why they care we need to keep track of that information so that we can develop more targeted marketing to each group. This will help us save development funds in the end and provide donors with more of the information they are most interested in. |

Great feedback. Thanks for this clarification!
I know of many centers that are currently tracking this information using "Categories" (found at the bottom of the "General" tab in the donor file). All of the areas of interest that you listed can be set up as a unique category, and then you can mark each donor with their own "areas of interest."
Once you set these categories up, you'll be able to run many different reports by category in order to get lists, mailing labels, or send letters to specific groups of donors.
I hope that will help you. :)

Re: Donor Segments Posted: 01 Apr 2008 03:00 PM |
The only problem with categories is that they do not print on the lists. If we want to print a list of all our donors and find out what categories they are marked with we can't. We can't find out without alot of work if donors are, for example, volunteers and interested in adoption. To get any specific info about a donor we have to look each one up. A couple more fields that would be available to print on reports would be very helpful. |

Ok, I think I understand, but I may need a little more clarification...
Currently, you can get lists of donors that all belong to a specific category. For example, the "Donor Files Report" has a "category" filter, so if you wanted to get a list of all donors who are interested in your "abstinence" ministry, you would select that category from the list. Doing this would give you a list of all people in that category.
From your post, though, it sounds like you want to have a report solely on categories? Is this correct? For example, you would want a report that would list all donors in your database, and would also show what categories were assigned to them (even if there were many different ones). Can you help me understand how you would use a list like this? It seems to me that it might be difficult to practically use a list of this type because so much information would be included in it. I'm probably just missing something, though!
Thanks for all your input and for taking the time to let us know!

Re: Donor Segments Posted: 03 Apr 2008 11:28 AM |
Ok, here is an example...Each month I print a Development report of all donations. In the comments I get info about what development activity prompted that donation, for example 'solicitation letter'. So I print the report and get that comment I need, however, all of our donors have been categorzied into minor, core, major etc depending upon their yearly giving total and I can't get their category on this report. I have to look up each donor to see what their donor type/category is. The only other way is to do alot of extra work exporting, murging, purging the lists or printing out and doing the seek and find method. If I could print a donation report with all the categories for that file as columns in the report that would be extremely helpful. I could delete the categories I didn't need but I would have so much more information side by side with that donor. I could tell if they are a volunteer, what ways they have given (baby bottle boomerang, solicitation letters, material goods, etc). Even though in the beginning I may start with too much information, I could delete unnecessary columns and get down to what I really want to know, which is how donors are responding to our development activities. Thanks! |

Hello again jolisas117,
This is great info. Thanks for helping clear up my confusion! Our team will take a look at the possibility of making this enahncement. From what you've said, it sounds like you would want all "Category" information to be added to the Donations Report (in the "list" view of this report), in an additional column. Am I correct?
Thanks,
Sarah |

Yes, that way we could have it all and then pick and choose what we wanted to delete in the excel spreadsheet, depending on what the purpose is. |

I totally agree with Jolisas :)
It would be great if the donor report could include all categories assigned to each donor- We end up doing alot for excel work creating direct mail lists.
I've used a few other online databases and they seem to have an export ability that dumps all info into a CSV or excel doc. It would be really useful if Ekyros could do that too- even if the number of columns seem ridiculous...lol!
Is this on the near horizon? |

Hi Sue,
I will pass this along to the development team and refresh their memory for this request. We cannot provide release dates for coming enhancements but I do see how this could be beneficial. Have a great weekend!
Blessings,

Re: Donor Segments Posted: 19 Jan 2011 09:20 PM |
would it be possible to add the categories column to the donor files report?- I notice that multiple categories are listed on the file summary reports, so I'm thinking the data is available...
Even if all the catergories checked are in one cell- (maybe seperated by commas?) it would be hugely helpful. |

Sue,
That is a great idea and possible solution! I have passed this onto the development team for future consideration. Thank you!

Re: Donor Segments Posted: 06 Jan 2014 12:44 PM |
... this problem still exists (Since 2001!!) where I cannot see a report that shows all donors, their giving and their category (i.e. individual, business, etc.). Please include this column in the donor report.
I need to be able to run a donor receipt report (so that all the donation are added together) in list format for the previous year and have a column in that report that shows "categories (such as individual, business, etc.).
Please advise.
Thank you. |

Hi Bill,
Happy New Year! This issue has been addressed, you can see the "Categories" column in the Donor Files Report. It sounds like you are requesting that it now be added to the Batch Receipts Report-- List View. Is that correct? How would your center utilize this information in the batch receipt area? How would it assist you in seeing their total giving for a date range AND category they are assigned to?
I would be happy to add your request to our feature feedback list but would like to better understand it. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Blessings,
Ashleigh |

Hi Bill,
We discuss feedback like this given by our centers in our weekly Friday meetings, and we also decide what will be going into our next releases once we release a new version. We are releasing our most current version January 12th, so we will be considering enhancements for a new version. I'll bring this to my team this Friday so we can discuss this.
Regards,
Amy |

Re: Donor Segments Posted: 06 Jan 2014 03:48 PM |
Ok, thanks.
I still don't see where all the fields appear in a list for donors. I'll ask where those are.
I have another request, having just begun using the database.
New Donor Entry:
When entering a city / state or country, the ones I have previously entered beforehand (for other donors) which begin with the same letters or numbers I type in the data field appear in a handy dropdown list. However, it is difficult to select the top one in the list without having to move the mouse or my hands from the keyboard to hit the down arrow.
It would be really helpful for the first item in the list to be automatically highlighted so that when you press either the tab or enter key, it would populate the field. As it is, you have to press the down arrow (not a naturally easy key to press while typing).
This kind of action does happen in the donation entry form. I can type and tab and go from one box to the next with ease. When I come to the Event field, I begin to type and the top one is highlighted and if I simply press the tab or enter key, the top item in that list automatically populates the field. I realize that in the donation form, the list is different than the donor form, but it would have been helpful for me when typing in all our donors this past week :)
Thanks for listening, and God bless you!

Hello, Ashleigh,
Thanks for the note. Can you help me find where the categories column is ... in what report exactly? I can't see it yet.
Thanks.

Hi Bill,
We actually don't have a report that I know of yet with the categories listed in the List View. But we can discuss that feedback with our team.
As far as the data entry issue with the drop down list, we actually don't provide a drop down list on those fields (city/state/country) as an integrated part of the software. I suspect that the auto-complete function within your browser is providing those options for you.
