pregnancy test entry

When a new pregnant client comes in primarily for resources, where in Ekyros can I enter her due date? I don't want to count her as a pregnancy test but do want the due date logged somewhere.

Hi Nancy,

To track her due date, you will have to enter a pregnancy test. However, we have given you the ability to track both clients that had p.t.'s at your center as well as those clients that came to you and already knew that they were pregnant. On the PT Form, directly under the Test Result question, we have a check box that allows you to mark that her pregnancy test was not administered at the center, but the client provided some type of proof of pregnancy. This "proof" is determined by your center (possibly a dr.'s note, a large belly, or maybe just her word, depending on the policy you have set).

When running stats on your pregnancy tests, you will be able to break out the clients that did not have their test at your center vs. those that did.

Please let me know if you need any more help with this. :o)

I am concerned about the statistics for Care Net. If I enter the due date on the pregnancy test form as you suggest, for a client who had a positive test elsewhere and only came to our center for material goods, won't the statistics record her as a pregnancy test client?

Hi Nancy,

I understand your concerns. We will look into this and talk with Care Net and get back to you as soon as we have more info.

Thank you so much for your feedback!

Hi NancyG,

Please forgive us for our delay in getting back to you. I was able to talk with a staff member at Care Net about this issue. First, let me quote the "Care Net Report Instructions and Affiliation Form"--

"Line 49-65: Positive-test clients would also include clients who had a positive test elsewhere (such as a physician’s office) and came to the center for support and counseling. Therefore, the number may not be equal to the number of positive pregnancy tests reported in Question #4 on page 7."

What this means is that in questions 49-65, these questions SHOULD include any PoP pregnancy test clients. In my conversation with Care Net, they said that this WOULD include ANY client receiving ANY pregnancy related services at any point during her pregnancy (including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd trimester). These Care Net Report Instructions also give several specific examples of client situations that should/should not be included in the report. If you need a copy of these, I'd love to get that for you.

Questions #3 and #4 on the Care Net report asks just for numbers of p.t. tests done AT YOUR CENTER. So, these totals will be different from your totals in questions #49-65.

Hopefully this will clear up any confusion. Please let me know if you have any additional questions on this. :o)

Thanks Nancy,

Sarah Miller
