How do I delete a staff person in staff Management?
I try to call the person up:Josie Grado, then edit, then delete and I get this message.
DELETE statement conflicted with TABLE REFERENCE constraint 'FK_tblCloset_tblDirectory'. The conflict occurred in database 'CenterPiece43', table 'tblCloset'. The statement has been terminated.
Thank you -Cindy Garman

Hi cgarman,

Sorry for the bad delete message. We will clean that up and make it more meaningful in the next release.

Here's what that message means:

There are one or more Closets/Boutiques forms that refer to the staff/volunteer that you are attempting to delete. The reference is set by assigning the person's name to field #1 "Staff/Volunteer" of the Closet/Boutiques form. If the system allowed you to delete the staff/volunteer, you would lose that information in any of the forms that refer to that person, so the operation is not allowed.

fyi...This rule applies to all of the client forms.

hope that helps.

Hi Brian,

We were also wondering about deleting staff/volunteer names. The drop down for staff/volunteer names is getting long and a lot of those people are not currently involved in the center. I understand the problem about deleting them, but would it be possible to make them inactive so that they don't appear on the drop down list?

Thanks,
Laura

Hi Laura,

I'm not sure if you know this, but a quick way to select a name from a large staff/vol drop down list is to press the first letter of the staff/vol's last name. this will jump you to the first staff vol with that letter. if you keep pressing the letter, you will 'scroll' though all the staff/vols with that letter until you reach the one you want.

here's an example:

In this example you have a "Sabatini, Tammy" and a "Sanders, Jenny" in the list

In the staff/vol list, if you want to select Jenny Sanders, click on the drop down list so it has the focus and press 'S' on the keyboard. this will take you to the first staff/vol with the letter 'S' in their last name -- in this case "Sabatini, Tammy". Press the 'S' one more time and "Sanders, Jenny" appears. You use the letter of their last name since the drop down list displays names by last name, first name. If there are more names in the list keep pressing "S" until the name appears.

this is really helpful when you have potentially hundreds of names to skip to get to Sanders. And it is very fast. Let me know if this helps.

Hi,

I have listed a particular volunteer more than once. Is there any way to delete the additional name?

Thanks,
Lora
